Freedom Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to empowering people against government and union powers. Among their goals they help people opt out of their union.
In 2021 they went from a Pacific-Northwest company to a nation-wide company. They wanted to completely revitalize their brand and marketing strategy, so from November of 2020 to June of 2021 I worked with designers, marketers, and the leadership at Freedom Foundation to develop a new brand and wholly new website.
First, I build their new site on WordPress and migrated the past 7 years of content.
Next, they wanted to show how many people had opted out of their union in total and by state. To accomplish this I built an integration with their Salesforce CRM to populate this data dynamically, updating every hour. From there, I gave Freedom Foundation content editors the ability to embed a shortcode anywhere on the site to dynamically display opt outs—by state or in total. I then added a map plugin that would allow visitors to hover over any state to see every state’s opt-outs.
There were many form-related things they wanted to do including accepting donations (recurring or on-time), mail lists with Mailchimp integration, lead magnets going to Hubspot, and more aggressive lead-capture on return visitors. To accomplish all this I leveraged Gravity Forms and a number of other Gravity Forms plugins.
For donations, we leveraged Stripe integration with Gravity Forms. We offered the options for one-time or recurring and allowed variable pricing.
For site design, we used Elementor page builder and I built a custom WordPress theme that leveraged Advanced Custom Fields (ACF Pro) to implement the responsive design. With plenty of options, the design uses parallax backgrounds to add some flare.
The site is uses Google Analytics, was audited for SEO, and implements a high level of security with a WAF and multiple security plugins.
